Snow covered rounds bales of hay in field.

In 2012, Ben Oliver and Lenae Chambers moved to the farm Lenae’s family has owned in Swartz Creek for over 100 years. They came full of ideas, grit, and soft hands. Plenty of cussing, broken fences, and chicken pen moves later, they are still on the learning curve and have picked up some callouses and useful practices along the way. Over the last twelve years, the couple and their four children along with help from plenty of friends have been raising pastured poultry, grass-fed beef, and hay. The cattle and grazing management have become the farm’s focus in recent years. The farm produces yearly crops of hay and grass-finished beef; Ben and Lenae continue to learn and implement adaptive, year-round grazing practices suited to their environment.
