Luce County MSU Extension and Luce County Parks and Recreation Millage Renewal
On August 4, 2026, Luce County residents will have the opportunity to renew the MSU Extension and Luce County Parks and Recreation millage. The 2027-2031 inclusive, 1.0-mill renewal request will provide .5 mill for continued funding for MSU Extension educational programs and .5 mill for Luce County Parks and Recreation programs.

What does a "yes" vote mean and what does a "no" vote mean?
A YES vote means that Luce County residents will continue to fund MSU Extension programs and Luce County Parks and Recreation.
A NO vote means that there will not be county funding to match and secure the university's investment in the 100+ year partnership serving Luce County or to continue the county’s investment in Luce County Parks and Recreation and the services it provides.

MSU Extension is funded by a unique partnership with federal, state, and county governments in order to successfully meet the needs of Michigan communities. Luce County Parks and Recreation is supported by the property taxes paid by Luce County residents. Luce County government has asked their constituents to fund parks and recreation and the county portion of the MSU Extension partnership by renewing the millage on the August 4, 2026 ballot.

“Shall the County of Luce renew a previously authorized property tax of one (1) mill ($1.00 on each $1,000 of taxable valuation) for a period of five (5) years beginning with the tax year 2027, 2028, 2029, 2030, and 2031 inclusive; with 0.5 Mill allocated to Luce County Parks and Recreation and 0.5 Mill allocated to Luce County MSU Extension for operating purposes? If approved and levied, based on the 2025 taxable value of $242,588, 656, this millage would raise an estimated $121,294.33 for Luce County Parks and Recreation and $121,294.33 for Luce County MSU Extension in the first year of collection.
