Welcome to the Michigan State University stable isotope biogeochemistry lab! We are an interdisciplinary collection of scientists who integrate stable isotope analysis with supporting techniques to explore a wide range of biological, chemical, geochemical, and agricultural processes. Our analytical analyses are focused on the upper portions of the periodic table, targeting high precision measurements of stable hydrogen, carbon, nitrogen, and oxygen isotopes within gas, solid, and liquid samples. These elements are critical components of life, environmental biogeochemical cycles, and human economies around the world, permitting our work to have cross-cutting impact across multiple disciplinary boundaries. Beyond specializing in application of existing measurement techniques, we also develop innovative stable isotope approaches to bring new insights towards solving challenging scientific questions. We are always happy to talk about our work and capabilities. If you have any interest in chatting about whether stable isotope analysis can be applied in your research or simply want to learn more about what we do, please contact us!
