How did the FSHN study abroad scholarship funds you received helped enhance your experience within your major?
The scholarship I received to participate in the International Engagement in Mexico (IEM) program greatly enhanced my study abroad experience by allowing me to fully engage in both community service and cultural learning. The funding covered travel and program expenses, letting me focus on volunteering with local agencies serving children. These experiences taught me the value of empathy, teamwork, and adaptability, as I worked alongside community members to make a meaningful impact.

In addition, the scholarship enabled me to participate in cultural excursions in Huatulco, where I explored historical sites and learned about local traditions. This exposure broadened my global perspective, strengthened my intercultural communication skills, and gave me a deeper appreciation for the ways culture and community shape people’s lives. Overall, the scholarship made it possible to immerse myself fully in a transformative experience that expanded my personal growth, understanding of diverse communities, and ability to engage thoughtfully with others, which skills that are valuable across all fields of study.
