Hops and craft beer tour

Join MSU and the Michigan Brewers Guild for their annual summer tour on Aug. 4 in Traverse City.

Attention craft beer lovers! Have you ever wondered what gives craft beer such great flavor? Hops is the answer! If you are interested in hops, craft beer, and learning first-hand how hops are grown, harvested and used in the brewing process, this tour is for you. Michigan State University Extension along with the Michigan Brewers Guild are pleased to announce that registration is now underway for the summer hop field day and craft beer tour.

Participants will tour multiple hopyards in beautiful Leelanau County to learn how hops are grown, harvested, and processed. The tour will stop for a private lunch and beer tasting at Hop Lot Brewing Company, a 3-barrel microbrewery with a spectacular beer garden. Designated with the prestigious TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for consistently earning great reviews, Hop Lot is one of northern Michigan’s highest rated microbreweries.

The tour will also include an educational craft beer tasting led by Scott Graham, Director of the Michigan Brewers Guild. The cost is $85 per person which includes lunch, education, charter bus transportation and handouts.
