Hops educational session slated for Great Lakes Expo
Michigan State University Extension has organized what will be an informative and practical hops educational session on December 11.
While most Michigan hops growers have finished the 2013 harvest and are making preparations for 2014, don’t forget to mark your calendars for the Great Lakes Fruit, Vegetable, and Farm Market Expo. The premier show for fruit and vegetable growers, greenhouse growers, farm marketers and hops, will be held December 10-12, 2013 in Grand Rapids, Mich.
Michigan State University Extension has organized what will be an informative and practical hops educational session on December 11. MSU Extension will host keynote speaker Tony Weathers, owner of Willamette Mission Farms in Gervais, Ore. Tony is a fourth-generation hop farmer, who along with his brother, farm 500 acres of hops, wheat and hazelnuts. Tony will give two talks for current growers and those looking to start: “Hops Production 201: From snowmelt to post harvest” and “How Oregon growers produce for the craft brew industry”.
