Petzko honored with 2026 CANR Outstanding Academic Advisor Award
Jennifer Petzko, of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, will receive the 2026 CANR Outstanding Academic Advisor Award on May 6 during the CANR Faculty and Staff Awards reception.
Jennifer Petzko, of the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics, will receive the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources Outstanding Academic Advisor Award on May 6.
The CANR Outstanding Academic Advisor Award honors academic advisors for their commitment and excellence in supporting students as they set and achieve their academic and professional goals.
Petzko is a senior academic specialist in the Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics and has advised students in the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources since 2016. In her current role, she supports the academic success of more than 400 undergraduate students enrolled in agribusiness management, environmental economics and management, and food industry management programs. She guides students through degree requirements, course planning and career exploration, serving as a consistent resource throughout their academic experience.
Before joining AFRE, Petzko advised students in the School of Planning, Design and Construction. Her prior experience includes advising roles at Bowling Green State University-Firelands, Kennesaw State University and St. Olaf College. She began her career working with federal educational opportunity programs, including GEAR UP and TRIO, advocating for student access to higher education. That work continues to inform her advising approach and reinforces her commitment to student belonging and success.
Petzko is a graduate of Michigan State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in political science. She also holds a Master of Public Administration degree from Kennesaw State University.
