Reviving the land, seeding the future
Soil scientist Lisa Tiemann is working with Uganda to gather data on soil conditions and introduce sustainable agricultural practices.
While Uganda's population is growing, land fertile enough to produce crops is becoming scarce and could run out in the next decade. MSU soil scientist Lisa Tiemann is working with farmers in the African nation to gather data on soil conditions and introduce sustainable agricultural practices. The goal? Slow down or reverse the loss of organic matter to restore the land and grow crops that provide food and income, as well as seed for the future.
