Civil Rights
As a Land Grant University, Michigan State University Extension is required to comply with Federal Civil Rights laws and policies that prohibit discrimination in federally assisted programs and services. The National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) provides oversight to MSU Extension. Accordingly, MSU Extension has a legal obligation and is subject to NIFA directives to prioritize civil rights compliance.
Oversight of MSU Extension's civil rights compliance is the responsibility of the MSU Extension Director's Office. All staff should be familiar with the civil rights laws, regulations and guidelines relevant to their roles and responsibilities.
This Civil Rights website provides resources to answer questions about MSU Extension's civil rights policies and procedures, the use of non-discrimination statements, the use and availability of the “And Justice for All” program poster, and civil rights laws and terminology.
Questions may be directed to the MSU Extension Culture, Access and Belonging Specialist.
