Darien Wilkerson is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor that operates as an extension educator for Michigan State University. Darien specializes within mental health and emotional wellness sectors and leads the Children Youth Institute Crisis Response Team. Darien has been a part of MSU Extension since 2023, and is located within Flint, MI, although offering statewide responsibilities.

Trainings:

Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) - evidence-based course for educators, school staff, and adults who work with youth on identifying and responding to signs of mental health challenges.
Teen Mental Health First Aid (TMHFA) - evidence-based series for high school aged youth on identifying and responding to mental health challenges within their peers.
QPR - a prevention course for participants to be able to recognize the warning signs of suicide and question, persuade, and refer those at risk for help.

Curriculum(s):

One Love - an educational workshop that teaches youth (middle-high school aged) how to differentiate between healthy and unhealthy relationships, creating boundaries, and navigating breakups.
Mindful Mechanics - an SEL series that guides and teaches school aged youth within various mindfulness approaches and considerations to aid within emotional regulation and stress management.
Health ROCKS! - an SEL series that guides elementary to middle school students within substance use prevention and education.

Consultation(s):

Behavioral Management - supporting educators within behavioral management interventions to improve student well-being and academic learning.
Program Development - supporting school districts within creating and implementing programs to enhance student wellbeing and academic success.
Social Emotional Learning (SEL) - designing and presenting social emotional workshops for school districts to meet the needs of educators and school aged youth.
