Deanna Hedlund
Deanna Hedlund is an MSU Extension Consumer Horticulture educator in Kent, Ottawa, Allegan & Barry Michigan.
Deanna, earned a Bachelor of Science in Horticulture from MSU (Michigan State University). She also holds a Master of Landscape Architecture and a Master of Science in Horticultural Biology from Cornel University.
Prior to joining MSU Extension, Deanna spent over a decade working in the Bronx, NY, at the New York Botanical Garden (NYBG), most recently in the role of Senior Curator of Woody Plants and Landscape Project Manager. An experienced educator, Deanna taught and developed curriculum for NYGB’s Continuing Education offering and NYBG’s School of Professional Horticulture program. A critical part of her curatorial work involved education outreach through communication with the public, including creating interpretive content for a range of audiences, fielding media requests, and providing garden tours.
