Eric Karbowski
Eric Karbowski serves as the District 6 Director for Michigan State University Extension covering Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, Mecosta, Missaukee, Osceola, and Wexford counties. Eric and his team in District 6 provide research-based education, support, tools, and resources for the members of the communities he serves. In his role, Eric works side-by-side with local county government, stakeholders, and members of the community to meet emerging needs through a grass rooted and person-centered approach.
Prior to this role, Eric was a Community Behavioral Health Extension Educator focusing on farm stress, suicide prevention, teletherapy, and mental health awareness with MSU Extension. Before joining MSU Extension, Eric was the Executive Director for the Missaukee County Commission on Aging. Additionally, Eric was a consultant with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services and supervised a program in the public mental health system for ten years. Eric also worked for Michigan Works! providing vocational rehabilitation, education and training services/supports to individuals. With Eric’s strong local connections throughout District 6, he brings his diverse vocational and academic experience to support the local communities through the promotion and advancement of research-based programming and opportunities provided by MSU Extension. Educationally, Eric earned his bachelor’s degree of science in education, master’s degree of arts in administration, and doctorate degree in educational leadership.
