Research Interest
The Gomes Lab research program is dedicated to exploring comparative pregnancy physiology and developmental origins of health and disease. Our core objective is to unravel the role of sex steroid hormones in the transgenerational effects of obesity and pregnancy hypertension, particularly across mother to daughter generations. Adopting a comprehensive approach inspired by the One Health concept, which highlights the intricate interplay between animal, human and environmental well-being, our laboratory employs diverse animal models to foster scientific advances in both veterinary and human reproductive medicine.
