Imelda Galdamez
Imelda Galdamez is the Michigan State University Extension Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Specialist.
Imelda works collaboratively with her MSU colleagues and partner organizations on DEI issues, while disseminating information that supports learning and fosters an inclusive environment. She is charged with developing and implementing trainings, resources and learning opportunities to help inform MSU Extension staff members, community partners and others about our commitment to civil rights and diversity, equity and inclusion. She will also oversee the MSU Extension Undergraduate Internship Program and our Professional Apprenticeship Program, and she will lead the DEI Race and Ethnicity Accountability Council.
Imelda was previously the MSU Extension associate program leader for the Expanded Food and Nutrition Program (EFNEP). Her work at MSU Extension began in 2011 when she was hired as a supervising educator in SNAP-Ed and EFNEP program in the Detroit area. Through her career with us she has secured numerous grants and conducted research project focused on nutrition and physical activity. She has bachelor of social work degree from San Francisco State University and a master of social work management from the University of Michigan.
