Biography

Wei Liao is a Professor of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering and Director of the Anaerobic Digestion Research and Education Center (ADREC) at Michigan State University. His research integrates biological engineering, environmental systems engineering, and industrial biotechnology to develop innovative technologies for converting agricultural residues, organic wastes, and wastewater into renewable energy, fuels, nutrients, and bioproducts. His scholarly program advances anaerobic digestion, renewable natural gas, resource recovery, and circular bioeconomy systems through fundamental research, process integration and optimization, and pilot- and field-scale technology development and demonstration.
