- Native range: Northern United States

- Shape: Narrow to broad pyramidal, depending on cultivar
- Foliage: Light green to dark green, depending on cultivar
- Other: Fragrant flowers in June
- Cultivars: ‘Boulevard’ – narrowly pyramidal, hardy to Zone 3; Legend – broadly pyramidal, Zone 4, medium green; ‘Redmond’ – pyramidal, light green foliage
- Additional: Transplant in spring or fall
- Pests: Very susceptible to Japanese beetles, mites, aphids, borers, leafminers and scales
