  • Site characteristics: Easily grown in average, dry-to-medium, well-drained acidic soils; full sun
  • Zone: 4 - 9
  • Native range: Eastern United States
  • pH: 5.5 - 7.5
  • Shape: Large tree with rounded, open habit
  • Foliage: Glossy, dark green in the summer, and russet-red to brilliant scarlet in the fall
  • Additional: Very shade intolerant
  • Pests: Relatively pest-free
