Celebrate the arrival of spring in our Sakura Garden and experience the timeless Japanese tradition of Hanami, or flower viewing.

Guests will be immersed in the rhythm and beauty of Japanese culture through captivating live performances. Enjoy the elegant movements of traditional Bon Odori dance and musical selections by the acclaimed Sakura Japanese Instrumental Group, alongside the thunderous, high-energy drumming of the Godaiko Lakes Taiko Center, whose powerful percussion will inspire and excite audiences of all ages.

Beyond the Performance Pavilion, explore a vibrant marketplace and cultural showcase featuring the Hibachi House food truck; tea and specialty beverages from Sweetwaters Coffee & Tea; kimono sales by Kimono Kitsune; handcrafted pottery from Aya M. Kang Studio; and hands-on activity and demonstration tables for all to enjoy.

At the heart of the celebration is a peaceful stroll through our blooming Sakura Garden. As cherry blossoms create a breathtaking backdrop, visitors can enjoy live Tsugaru Shamisen music performed by Jeremiah Willems, a choral performance by the Kanade Ann Arbor Choir Club, and guided origami experiences led by the Japanese Society of Detroit Women’s Club—rounding out a serene, reflective, and immersive experience.
