Wexford County 4-H Council

Seeking New Participants

Council exists to support the growth of countywide 4-H and youth development opportunities. Members fund raise, provide scholarships, and plan year-round activities to support our 4-H community. Youth, parents, volunteers and community members are welcome to attend. The group meets bi-monthly, on the fourth Tuesday of every odd month, from 5:30-7, at the Wexford County MSU Extension office in Cadillac. Current officers include Josie Clement, Jessica Ackerson, and Kate Quist.

4-H clubs are volunteer led by dedicated volunteers who believe in our mission to grow the future leaders of our community by ensure they have the skills to be successful and healthy adults. The clubs that are offered, their capacity, schedules, and activities are dictated by the number and talents of our volunteers. If you would be interested in sharing your skills, talents, and traditions with the next generation, please reach out to discuss the many ways that you could help us build a robust program that is ready to take on our changing world.

Babysitting SPIN	*Returning Soon!* Ages 11+ Learn everything you need to know to be an excellent babysitter! Perfect for older siblings or those looking to run a successful business, 4-H partners with local organizations and schools to provide this 6-8 hour experience in many formats.	Seeking New Leaders!
The Business of Baking SPIN	Returning soon! Ages 12+ Offers 6 weeks of learning to bake various recipes, to calculate cost per item, and about Michigan Cottage Food Laws so they can launch their own baking business. Partnering with Jam & Bread non-profit.	Karlyn Probst & Marla Courtney
CloverBud SPIN	Ages 5-7 CloverBuds are our 5-7-year-old members that participate in introductory, non-competitive projects. These short-term SPecial INterest clubs are offered at various times throughout the year on many topics, such as dinosaurs, fairy gardens, and baking.	Josie Clement Seeking New Leaders!

Spot On Shooting 4-H Club	Ages 9-19 Spot On Shooting 4-H Club: Missaukee & Wexford 4-H in partnership with the Cadillac Sportsman's Club! Spot On Shooting is intended to be a long-term club focusing on finding and exploring passions and interests and practicing the safe and responsible handling of equipment. We plan to grow this program to offer several disciplines and we will be looking for more volunteers to make it thrive. Spot On Shooting will begin with Air Rifles. Leaders' Council	Seeking New Participants! Governing board that helps grow 4-H programming in Wexford County; fund raises and provides scholarships for members. Open to volunteers, 4-H teens, 4-H parents, and community members. *screening process may be required.	Jill Benson
Activity/Resource Volunteers	These approved volunteers lend a hand where ever needed. Some help with special events, while others on very specific activities such as Mock It Then Rock It (Wex-Miss Mock Interview Day) and 4-H Exploration Days.

Northern District Fair

Cadillac is home to the Northern District Fair. As a district fair, Michiganders from across the state can participate in exhibits, livestock showmanship and livestock auction. Youth must be part of a recognized youth organization to participate.
*Northern District Fair and Michigan 4-H are separate organizations and partner together to offer a fun fair experience to youth.
