The Leadership Lab Luncheon is part of the Great Lakes Leadership Academy’s Leadership Advancement Program, where leaders from across Michigan come together to learn directly from communities and explore how leadership shows up in complex, real-world systems.
Each luncheon is designed as an interactive session, not a panel. During the experience, LAP participants will share what they are learning in the field and propose a systems map of a local focus area. This map highlights key relationships, tensions, and opportunities within the system they are exploring.
Guests are invited to actively participate in a facilitated dialogue with the cohort. Together using appreciative inquiry, you will reflect on what you’re seeing, offer your perspective, and help identify potential leverage points for leadership. Your experience and insight are an important part of the process.
Each regional session focuses on a different system shaping Michigan, including:
- agricultural systems and farm labor in West Michigan
- land, development, and environmental justice in Detroit
- natural resource management and tribal sovereignty in the Upper Peninsula
You do not need to attend all three sessions or have any content area expertise or prior experience. You are welcome to join the one that is most relevant, interesting, or convenient for you.
All sessions take place from 11:00 AM–1:00 PM and include lunch.
This is a space to think together, learn from one another, and explore how leadership for the common good can take shape across Michigan.
