Health Promotion and Engagement WorkLife Wellbeing
Health Promotion and Engagement WorkLife Wellbeing provides support for faculty navigating relocation, family care and work-life balance. It offers resources for dual-career support, childcare, eldercare and wellness. The office also helps faculty connect with peer networks and informal mentoring opportunities, which are especially valuable for those new to the Greater Lansing area.
Teaching and Research Resources
MSU provides a wide range of resources to support faculty in their teaching and research responsibilities. The CANR Faculty & Staff Teaching Resources page includes instructional tools, course development support and links to university-wide teaching initiatives.
For research, the MSU Office of Research and Innovation offers onboarding materials, internal and external funding opportunities and interdisciplinary collaboration platforms. Faculty can also manage their academic profiles and increase visibility through MSU Scholars.

Foundation Relations Support
Greg Witbeck, CANR’s Director of Foundation Relations, connects faculty with non-federal foundation grant opportunities. He offers consultations to help align projects with potential funders, provides guidance for faculty new to foundation funding and introduces MSU’s tools for tracking opportunities.

Awards
Recognition of faculty achievement is an important part of the mentoring process. Mentees are encouraged to work with their mentors to identify opportunities for internal and external awards. These awards can enhance professional visibility, support promotion and contribute to a positive mentoring culture.
Award programs are listed on the Awards and Recognition page. Mentors may also serve as sponsors by writing nomination letters, facilitating networking and helping mentees gain visibility within the university and broader academic community.
Development Opportunities
MSU and CANR offer a variety of professional development programs to support faculty at all stages of their careers. These include workshops on promotion and tenure, leadership development and cohort-based initiatives.
