The Amazing Race to Team Building and Education
The Amazing Race is a famous reality TV show where teams compete in physical, mental, cultural and other challenges. The game is well known for its adventures and fierceness as teams travel around the world and strive to reach the finish line to avoid elimination. The Amazing Race game and materials are adapted from this famous reality TV show to fit any subject and audience. This highly interactive game splits an audience into teams where they follow clues and complete checkpoint challenges. Although this game maintains a face-paced environment, it allows youth and adults to have fun while working together to learn. This game template is suitable for all subjects, while incorporating learning, physical activity, and adventure in a way many teaching methods struggle to do. The session will go over how to create the game from start to finish. Including, locations and accessibility, different challenge types and ideas, game customization, where to find resources, and how to make learning fun and interactive for everyone!

This process requires a combination of skills, including communication, trust-building, and understanding the needs and goals of both parties.
Calling In, Calling On, Calling Out

As humans, it is likely we will eventually find ourselves in situations in which actions or comments create awkward, uncomfortable, or even outright hurtful impacts. This session goes over some strategies to create opportunity for action, compassion, and growth in these situations. Practice time is planned.

Exploring Edible Forest Programming

Edible forests are perennial polyculture spaces designed to optimize fruit, nut, herb and other food production. MSU has two edible forests, one at the Student Organic Farm on campus and the other at the DPFLI urban ag facility in Detroit. There are also numerous food forest around the state. This session seeks to explore ways Extension can integrate its plethora of programs to support edible forest around the state. Primary topics include: fruit/nut production, integrated pest management, soil management, food safety, food products, nutrition, and youth engagement.
