Teaching
I used to teach Forest Ecology at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. I loved teaching this subject area, especially being in the field with students and guiding them to better understand how forest ecosystems work. Since becoming Department Chairperson, my schedule precludes me from teaching these courses, which demand a lot of energy from both the students and instructor.
I will be teaching / coordinating a new introductory undergraduate course that is part of the new Forestry curriculum. I am delighted to delve into all of the ways that forests are critical to human well-being and the environment and their linkages:
FOR 110: Seminar on Contemporary Issues in Forests and the Environment.
I also have been teaching a graduate course that is focused on proposal writing, but that also explores other aspects of being a scientist, including responsible conduct of research:
FOR 802: Forest Science Research
