Juliet Zink 2026-2027 Trout/Ridley Scholarship Recipient
Juliet Zink, FSHN Dietetics student, shares her experience with the program and what receiving the G Malcolm Trout Undergraduate Scholarship and the Lois Gordon Ridley Endowed Scholarship/Fellowship has meant for her undergraduate experience.
Name: Juliet Zink
Hometown: Milford, MI
Major: Dietetics
Why did you choose MSU FSHN for your major?
I chose Dietetics because I am very passionate about health and preventative measures that can be taken to protect your future. There is so much misinformation about nutrition, and I would love to help guide others to better understand it and make good decisions to live a healthy life. Overall, I love the idea of helping others and empowering them to feel their best.
What has been the most interesting thing you have learned during your major?
One of the most impactful things I have learned from my major is that sometimes food is medicine. While not every condition can be treated by food, many can. I think that many people disregard food and diet as being very impactful to your health, however, it is one of the most important factors.
What has receiving the G Malcolm Trout Undergraduate Scholarship and the Beth and Holly Fryer Endowed Scholarship meant to you?
Receiving this scholarship is very affirming to me. Knowing that there are people out there who are generous enough to believe in me and support my education makes me feel supported and excited to hopefully one day do the same for others.
What are your future plans?
My future plans are to go to Michigan State for my master's and dietetic internship. Then, I will pursue clinical dietetics and support patients in hospitals. After, I hope that I can pursue research in nutrition, as it is a relatively new field that should be explored further.
If there was only one thing you could share with someone considering MSU FSHN for their undergraduate experience, what would you tell them?
I would tell them that FSHN is incredibly supportive and helpful in your experience. While receiving a strong academic foundation, the faculty and your peers are very encouraging and invested in your growth and career.
