Wongthanaroj receives 2026 CANR Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching Award

The CANR Excellence in Graduate Student Teaching Award recognizes graduate students for exceptional teaching skills, the use of innovative instructional techniques, contributions to undergraduate programs and positive impact on student learning and colleagues’ teaching practices.

Wongthanaroj is a doctoral candidate in the School of Packaging who has supported several laboratory and recitation courses while developing a teaching approach grounded in inclusivity, student engagement and real‑world application. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes connecting coursework to professional contexts while encouraging students to take ownership of their learning and build confidence in applying new concepts.

In the classroom, Wongthanaroj integrates strategies such as argument‑driven inquiry, reflective learning and collaborative design thinking. These approaches support active participation and help students deepen understanding through discussion, problem‑solving and applied analysis. Her teaching prioritizes student-centered learning environments where diverse perspectives are valued and learning becomes a shared process.

Beyond the classroom, Wongthanaroj contributes to teaching development efforts across the university. She was selected as a Future Academic Scholars in Teaching Fellow for the 2023‑24 academic year and works with the Graduate School’s Office of Graduate Educator Advancement and Teaching to support professional development initiatives for graduate instructors. Through this work, she helps strengthen teaching practices and instructional confidence among her peers.

Wongthanaroj also serves as president of the Packaging Graduate Association, where she fosters a supportive and inclusive community for graduate students. Through her teaching, mentorship and leadership, she is committed to creating learning environments that empower students to grow academically and professionally.
