Background:

Dr. Bremigan is an associate professor whose position is funded, in part, through the Fisheries Division of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR). MDNR, together with several other management agencies and Michigan State University, form PERM, the Partnership for Ecosystem Research and Management. Through her PERM activities, she has conducted research to inform Fisheries Division decisions and she has participated in several Fisheries Division endeavors to strengthen the scientific basis on which Division procedures and decisions are based.

Dr. Bremigan’s research investigates factors influencing variability in fish reproductive dynamics.  Additionally, she studies the role of natural and anthropogenic landscape features in structuring lake fish assemblages.  Her PERM-related activities have included participation in Fisheries Division's "Watershed Approach to Re-engineering Team” and “Research Inventory and Planning” committee, which worked to standardize Fisheries Division's assessment activities in inland lakes and streams. She has also chaired several committees charged with reviewing and updating the fishing regulations for inland waters of Michigan.
