Ecological Diagrams

  • Carbon Cycle: A summary of the carbon cycle with various processes highlighted, including the transformation of live vegetation into harvested timber.

  • Atmospheric Carbon Pools and Fluxes: An overview of relationship between different atmospheric carbon pools and fluxes. A carbon flux is the amount of carbon exchanged between Earth's carbon pools - the oceans, atmosphere, land, and living things.

  • Ocean Carbon Uptake: Demonstrating the process in which the ocean uptakes carbon dioxide emissions and controls on gas exchange.

  • Forest Carbon Cycle – Net Ecosystem Productivity (NEP): Carbon losses result from respiration, herbivory, litter production, and plant mortality.

  • Terrestrial Carbon Fluxes: A diagram displaying above- and below-ground flows of carbon entering, moving within, and exiting a terrestrial ecosystem.

  • The Greenhouse Effect: An overview of the Greenhouse Effect, adapted from an image made available by Okanagan University College, University of Oxford, US EPA, UNEP and WMO. Original image source available at http://www.grida.no/resources/6467.
