Misbah Wasi
Misbah Wasi is based in New Delhi, India, and has extensive experience working with hospitals, the health and fitness sector, corporations, government, and industry associations.
Ms. Wasi's areas of specialization include nutrition science, regulatory compliance, advocacy, product conceptualization, nutrient profiling, consumer orientation, brand management programs, labelling and claims substantiation, in-licensing, government representation, and documentation.
In 2012, she joined the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) and worked extensively on safety and standardization of ingredients and additives, while also framing food regulations with various scientific panels. She also assessed several government labs for accreditation under the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL).
Ms. Wasi is currently focused on health and dietary supplements, nutraceuticals, Food for Special Medical Purposes (FSMP), Food for Special Dietary Use (FSDU), probiotics, and protein supplements. She is also Founding Member & Chief Regulatory Officer of the Expert National Advocacy Council (ENAC), an industry advocacy group that offers comprehensive regulatory consultancy services to industry. She is also engaged with federal regulators to review existing and upcoming standards, which could be included in future regulatory decision making.
Ms. Wasi is a frequent speaker at various conferences, colleges, and universities, to promote health and dietary supplements and nutraceuticals in India, and is presently associated with various bodies like the Indian Drug Manufacturers' Association (IDMA), Indian Dietetic Association (IDA), and the Expert National Advocacy Council of India (ENAC).
Ms. Wasi holds an MBA, MSc, and is a certified Lead Food Safety Management Systems Auditor (FSMS, FSSC 22000).
Ms. Wasi is a contributing subject matter expert to IFLR's course International Food Laws and Regulations.
