Whitney and her husband, Dan, are the owners of Two Sparrows Farm & Dairy. They are both native Michiganders – growing up just a few minutes away from Michigan State University gave them an awareness of agriculture, though neither of them are from farming families. They are also 2010 graduates of Grand Valley State University, and called West Michigan home for over a decade before moving to their forever farm in Eaton Rapids.
They discovered the writings of Michael Pollen and Joel Salatin in college, which led to working on several farms – from an apple orchard, an organic vegetable farm to a conventional dairy farm. Experience is, of course, the best teacher and they have never stopped learning to perfect their craft.
They farm full-time with their 5 children, a small part-time team, cattle dog (Carlita) and barn cats.
At Two Sparrows Farm, Whitney co-manages a herdshare dairy, raises beef cattle, and manages hay and pasture fields. She excels at farm financials, marketing and the infrastructure for livestock farms. She has managed pigs, chickens, turkeys and other livestock in the past as well.
